Pellet

Traeger and pellet grill cleaning

Pellet grills cook with smoke, and smoke leaves behind a hard, tar-like glaze that a grill brush cannot touch. A proper pellet-grill service means the barrel, the drip pan, the heat baffle and the auger area all come apart.

Our Process

What we actually do

  • Remove grates, drip tray and heat baffle for a full barrel teardown
  • Scrape and vacuum accumulated ash and carbonized pellet residue from the firepot area
  • Degrease the barrel interior and lid where creosote glaze builds up
  • Clean the grease drain path so it actually drains again
  • Wipe down the hopper interior and inspect the auger opening for debris
  • Reassemble, run the grill and confirm it comes up to temperature
Questions

Traeger questions we get

How often should a Traeger be professionally cleaned?
If you cook weekly, once or twice a year for a full teardown, with your own ash vacuuming in between. Heavy smokers and anyone running long low-and-slow cooks build glaze faster.
Will cleaning remove the seasoning that makes it cook well?
No. We remove carbon glaze, ash and grease—the things that hurt flavor and airflow—while leaving the cooking surfaces properly conditioned.
