Big Green Egg and kamado restoration
Ceramic cookers are the one grill type where over-cleaning does damage. Kamados are meant to carry an interior patina, and stripping it with chemicals ruins how the cooker holds and radiates heat.
What we actually do
- Remove the cooking grid, fire ring, fire box and plate setter for inspection
- Clear ash and debris from the bowl and the lower vent so airflow is restored
- Check the firebox for cracks and the gasket for wear, and report what we find
- Deep-clean the cooking grid and cast components
- Clean the exterior ceramic, bands, hinge and dome hardware
- Reassemble with correct alignment and confirm the dome seals and vents move freely

- Do you use chemicals inside a Big Green Egg?
- No. The interior is cleaned mechanically and with heat. Chemical degreasers belong nowhere near porous ceramic.
- Can you clean the exterior ceramic without damaging the finish?
- Yes—the glazed exterior, bands and hardware get cleaned by hand with products safe for the finish.
